Smart TVs are the most popular way to watch IPTV in 2026, but the right app depends entirely on which TV you own. We tested the leading IPTV media player apps on every major smart TV platform, so you don't have to.
Samsung Tizen TVs
The Tizen app store does not yet have Tivimate, so the best options are IPTV Smarters, OTT Navigator, and the native "Smart IPTV" (SIPTV) app. SIPTV requires a one-time €5.49 activation and works beautifully with M3U playlists. If you own a recent Samsung, this is the most stable pick.
LG webOS TVs
LG's app store is a little behind Android TV but has IPTV Smarters, IBO Player, and Smart IPTV. We had the smoothest experience with Smart IPTV on a 2024 LG C4 OLED — the 4K HEVC streams played without a single dropped frame over a full weekend. Pair it with a Magic Remote and you get a proper cable-like feel.
Android TV and Google TV
This is the easiest platform. Tivimate, IPTV Smarters, OTT Navigator, Perfect Player, and many more are all one click away in the Play Store. Apple TV
The tvOS App Store has IPTV Smarters, IBO Player, and a few smaller players. Tivimate is not (yet) available. Of the three, IBO Player is the most stable on Apple TV 4K. Apple TV's strong Wi-Fi 6E support means even 4K streams buffer far less than on older smart TV platforms.
Roku
Roku is the trickiest platform. The official channel store is limited, and the most popular IPTV apps (Tivimate, IPTV Smarters) are not available. Your best bet is to screen-mirror from a phone running VLC media player IPTV, or to plug a Firestick into one of the HDMI ports. Honestly, if you watch a lot of IPTV, this is the single biggest reason to add a streaming stick to your Roku TV.
Hisense, TCL, Sony, Philips
Most of these run Android TV or Google TV under the hood, so all the Android TV advice applies. Sony Google TVs are particularly strong because of the built-in Dolby Vision support — great if your IPTV provider includes Dolby Vision channels.

If you would rather not add a box, install IPTV Smarters from your TV's app store. In every case, keep VLC installed somewhere in the house as a backup — it has saved us more times than we can count.
